Who legally owns the assets in my EXANTE account?
Who legally owns the assets in my EXANTE account?
Updated over a week ago

This article explains that while EXANTE is required to segregate client assets, counterparties recognise it as the legal holder of those assets. However, clients retain beneficial ownership and can verify their holdings through reports in the Client's Area.

Can I receive a confirmation from depositories verifying my asset ownership?

EXANTE's regulated entities, including EXT, XNT, XHK, and LHCM, are required to segregate assets under each client’s name. However, for counterparties, EXT/XNT/XHK/LHCM is recognised as the holder of the assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining a secure and efficient trading environment.

Due to this asset segregation structure, depositories do not issue confirmations directly to individual clients. Instead, the legal ownership remains with EXT/XNT/XHK/LHCM, while clients retain beneficial ownership. You can verify your holdings through the reports available in your Client’s Area, which serve as sufficient confirmation of your positions.

How is my trade recorded on the exchange, and under whose name is it registered?

When you place a trade, it appears in the exchange’s reports under XNT/EXT/XHK/LHCM or our designated counterparty for that specific exchange. However, you can always track your order details – such as the ticker name, time stamp, and quantity – through the reports in your Client’s Area.

This structure ensures smooth transaction execution while complying with regulatory standards.
