Ensuring the security of your account is crucial, and monitoring your active sessions plays a vital role. To keep you informed and in control, your Client Area includes a feature that provides detailed information about your current and past login sessions.
Where can I find Active Sessions?
Log in to your Client’s area.
Navigate to ‘Settings’ → ‘Security’.
Select Active Sessions.
Active Sessions
The Active Sessions section displays a list of your recent login sessions. Each session includes information with the following details:
Device: The type of device used for the session (e.g., desktop, mobile).
IP Address: The IP address from which the session was initiated.
Date and Time: The exact date and time of login.
Platform: Indicates whether the session was on the Client’s area or the desktop trading platform.
Why is the Active Sessions feature useful?
The Active Sessions feature helps enhance your account security by enabling you to:
Verify activity: Confirm that all sessions listed have been initiated by you.
Detect unauthorised access: Quickly identify any unfamiliar devices, IP addresses, or login times.
Maintain account security: End all other sessions that you no longer need or suspect as unauthorised.
How do I manage my Active Sessions?
Review the list regularly: Periodically check your active sessions for any suspicious activity.
End all other sessions: If you spot an unfamiliar or unnecessary session, you can end it by selecting the “End All Other Sessions” button.
Update your password: If you spot any suspicious activity, change your password immediately. To do this, go to ‘Settings’ → ‘Security’.
End All Other Sessions
Why might an IP address appear unrecognised?
An IP address might appear unrecognised due to various factors, depending on the user's activity and context. Common explanations include:
1. Use of a New or Unknown Network
New Wi-Fi or Mobile Network: If you're connecting from a different Wi-Fi or cellular network (e.g., travelling or using a public hotspot), the IP address will differ from the one you typically use.
Dynamic IP Addresses: Internet Service Providers (ISPs) often assign dynamic IPs that can change periodically, leading to unfamiliar IPs.
2. Use of a VPN or Proxy
VPN (Virtual Private Network): When you use a VPN, it masks your real IP with one from the VPN provider's server. This may result in an IP address from a different region or country.
Proxy Server: Similar to a VPN, using a proxy can cause the displayed IP to differ from your usual one.
3. Device or Location Changes
New Device: Logging in from a device that hasn’t been used before will likely generate an unrecognised IP.
Geographic Location: If you're accessing your account from a different city or country, the IP address associated with that location will differ.
4. Network Routing or ISP Configuration
Network Changes: ISPs might reroute traffic through different servers, which can change the public-facing IP address.
Load Balancing: Some networks distribute traffic across multiple servers, which can alter the apparent IP address.
5. Security Concerns
Potential Unauthorized Access: If you notice an unrecognised IP and are sure it isn't yours, it could indicate someone else is trying to access your account.
What should I do if I see an unrecognised IP address among my Active Sessions?
If you notice an unrecognised IP address in your Active Sessions list, take the following steps to safeguard your account:
Verify recent activities, including login alerts and session details.
Immediately terminate all suspicious sessions by selecting “End all other sessions”
Change your password and enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
Contact the Client Services agent via email or chat if you suspect unauthorised access.
Tips for Enhancing Security:
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security to your account.
Keep your credentials private: Never share your login information with others.
Use a strong password: Ensure your password is unique and difficult to guess.
Monitor login alerts: Stay informed by enabling email or SMS notifications for new logins.
