This article explains how withdrawing funds from your account affects your margin utilization. It also provides guidance on where to find information about margin utilisation on your account.
When you initiate a withdrawal, it reduces your available balance, which can affect your margin utilization.
Margin utilization is calculated as the percentage of your used margin relative to your account value. After a withdrawal, your account value decreases, which causes an increase in your margin utilization percentage. As a result, if you have open positions, they may represent a larger portion of your reduced account value, giving the appearance that you are using more margin.
I have no open positions, yet a negative cash balance and margin call still occurred on my account. Why did it happen?
If you have no open positions and a margin call occurs, it means you requested a withdrawal in a currency not held in your account (e.g., you requested a USD withdrawal, but your funds are in EUR).
Please ensure that your withdrawal request is in a currency available in your account, or convert your funds to the desired currency before submitting the withdrawal request.
You can find detailed instructions on currency conversion in the article Manage your account currencies.
If your account entered a margin call state after submitting a withdrawal request, you can contact the Client Services team to cancel the request. Once canceled, you can convert the funds in your account to the required currency and submit a new withdrawal request.
Where can I find the information about the margin utilization on my account?
You can assess your current margin status using the Margin Structure module in the trading platform. The module offers an overview of your Account Value, Available Funds, Used Margin, and Order Margin, helping you effectively monitor your margin situation.
