EXANTE MCP Integration

This article provides an overview of EXANTE’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integration, explaining its features, supported AI clients, step-by-step connection guides, and security model.

What is the EXANTE MCP

The EXANTE trading platform connects your account to AI assistants using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

The EXANTE MCP server wraps the EXANTE HTTP API and exposes market data, account metrics, portfolio tracking and trading functionality (placing, modifying and cancelling orders) as standardized MCP tools and interactive widgets. It allows you to interact with EXANTE in natural, plain language without writing any code.

How it works

The EXANTE MCP server connects AI assistants directly to the platform via our HTTP API infrastructure. Every instruction you give to the AI maps to standard API requests authenticated with your credentials. It introduces no hidden capabilities or risks outside of what our HTTP API already supports.

With the MCP integration, you can instruct your AI assistant to:

  • Retrieve market data: Inspect instrument specifications, real-time quotes, last prices, cross rates, available exchanges, trading schedules and historical candles (OHLC) and ticks.

  • Monitor account and portfolio: Check account lists, live balances, open positions, margin utilization and account summaries.

  • Execute trading operations: Place new trading orders, review pending/active orders, modify parameters and cancel orders.

  • Review transactions: Access transaction history, including cash operations, funding, dividends and commission breakdowns.

Supported AI clients

You can connect the EXANTE MCP server to any client supporting the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP transport, including:

  • Claude Desktop / Claude.ai

  • Claude Code (CLI)

  • ChatGPT (Custom Plugins / Developer Mode)

  • Other MCP-compliant clients and developer environments.

How to connect EXANTE MCP to Claude

For Claude.ai / Claude Desktop:

  1. In Claude, go to Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector.

  2. Enter a connector name (e.g., EXANTE) and paste the connection URL:
    [https://mcp-api.exante.eu/mcp] (https://mcp-api.exante.eu/mcp)

  3. Click Add, then click Connect.

  4. The EXANTE Clients’ Area login page will open in your browser.

  5. Log in, complete two-factor authentication (2FA) and authorize access.

  6. Return to Claude and enable the connector in the chat tools menu to complete the setup.

For Claude Code (CLI):

  1. Add the MCP server by running the following command in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http exante 'https://mcp-api.exante.eu/mcp'

2. Start a session, run /mcp and complete the browser-based login and 2FA flow.

How to connect EXANTE MCP to ChatGPT

  1. Enable Developer mode by going to Settings > Security and login > Developer mode.

  2. Navigate to Plugins > Browse plugins and click the plus (+) icon in the top right corner.

  3. Set the name as EXANTE and paste the connection URL:
    [https://mcp-api.exante.eu/mcp] (https://mcp-api.exante.eu/mcp)
(Leave all other settings as default).

  4. Select the 'I understand and want to continue' checkbox and click Create to complete the setup.

AI Integration Security

  • No direct key exposure: Your actual HTTP API keys and sensitive credentials are never transmitted to or stored with the third-party AI provider. They remain securely stored within EXANTE’s protected infrastructure.

  • OAuth 2.1 and scoped tokens: The AI assistant receives only a short-lived, temporary access token granted after you authenticate via the EXANTE Clients’ Area login flow and pass 2FA.

  • Revoking access: You can immediately revoke access at any time by:

    1. Disconnecting the EXANTE connector directly in your AI assistant’s settings;

    2. Asking the AI assistant to "Log out of EXANTE" directly inside your chat;

    3. Revoking the underlying session or API key in your Clients’ Area > Settings > API Management.

Prerequisites and limitations

  • Account verification: Just as with our HTTP API and FIX connections, AI connectivity is available to approved and verified EXANTE accounts.

  • Rate Limits: Because the MCP server maps requests directly onto the EXANTE HTTP API, standard HTTP API rate limits (orders, market data feeds, transactions) apply to requests initiated by your AI assistant.

Note: EXANTE does not provide technical support for configuring third-party AI software or terminal environments on your local machine and assumes no responsibility for actions or trades prompted by third-party AI assistants.

Always review order parameters carefully before execution as you remain responsible for all orders placed through your account.
